Work and pricing guide

We know that getting a price for your tattoo appointment can be daunting, especially with recent times. As the artist it can be just as daunting to give one. That’s why we made this guide to show how we price the tattoo and to be as transparent as possible. We will always try to give a price up front but this isn´t always possible as we will try to explain in this guide. Tattoos are for the people by the people and we here at Inkstasy take pride in making tattoos affordable. If we could we would do it for free!

Minimum

This usually depends on the studio minimum. If it was up to inkstasy you´d only pay for the work and material. Studio minimums are usually between 150-200 aud. The rent needs to be paid.

Material and placement and size:

For example, a tattoo on the ribs will take longer as a same size tattoo on the arm. Rib tattoos can stretch to double the size when tattooing and given the area it needs to be handled with extra care to ensure good healing. Factors such as, skin type, genetics, how hydrated you and your skin is and many more factors can play a role into how receptive the skin is for the tattoo. Color tattoos usually need more needles, more cleaning solutions, more paper. Luckily the material costs only add up about 10-20 percent of the cost for the tattoo.

Hourly rate:

Inkstasy charges 40 aud an hour. This is only for designing and the tattooing. Consultations are free given they aren’t extensive (1 hour max) If you’re planing a big project such as a full sleeve or backpiece you will in some cases have to book a consultation and come in to have pictures, measurements and other preparation done before the designing can commence.

When will I know the price of my tattoo?

Inkstasy has mastered his workflow and can in most cases give you a price up front. Usually reserved to tattoos up to 15 cm or less. Anything bigger expect an estimate, (for tattoos up to 30 cm or less). Are you planning on doing something bigger than that? Expect an hourly rate.

Can you work within a budget?

Yes! When you send in your project you may include your budget. Try to give some wiggleroom. When we contact you we can work out the details on what can be done. We will guide you into what we think is the right choice, you shouldn’t cram a family portrait into 5 cm because you want to save a couple bucks. It will just heal terribly…

Will I be able to see the design before?

It depends…we are reserved sending the design as we´ve had designs stolen and done terribly by other ”tattoo artists” in the past. Also a design will never be the same on a flat 2D plane as on the skin. And there are usually changes done on the day of the tattoo together. We may however send mock up sketches beforehand to ensure we are on the right path and paint an abstract image of what direction your project is moving. Trust is very important to the process for Inkstasy.

Deposit:

Yes we take a deposit. This is usually 30% of the estimated value of your tattoo and will be taken of the final price you pay after the tattoo is finished. The deposit is not refundable but you are welcome to move your appointment within 48 hours of your original booking date.

Final notes:

We hope this guide was helpful. And aids you in your journey to work with us. When you book try to include as much cohesive information as possible to make the process go along smoothly.
